ARC Raiders Beginner Guide
Everything a new Raider needs, from confirmed mechanics only.
ARC Raiders puts you in the boots of a Raider in the Rust Belt: a ruined surface ruled by ARC machines, with the underground society of Speranza as your home base. Your goal each run is to extract more than you risk — loot, quest progress, and the materials that let you craft and upgrade.
The core loop
- Gear up in Speranza — repair and upgrade your equipment at your workshop, manage your stash and stock consumables.
- Raid the surface — head Topside alone or with up to two squadmates; loot locations, complete quests and avoid or fight ARC machines and hostile Raiders.
- Extract or lose it — leave safely with your loot. Dying Topside means losing what you carried; the risk-reward choice is the heart of the game.
- Craft and progress — use materials at the workbench, build blueprints, spend skill points and work toward your projects and quest line.
The Expedition hub explains the seasonal project system, and blueprints are the main crafting goal — both change with official updates.
Beginner tips (verified for the current version)
- Squad up: groups of up to three with cross-platform play make extraction much safer — the official solo option exists but carries more risk.
- Mind the map conditions: the official site tracks map conditions live (Beachcombing, Harvester, Night Raid and more) with regional schedules since update 1.42.0 — check before you drop.
- Repair instead of re-buying where possible: 1.42.0 changed repair rules alongside the general 'repair value increase' expedition buffs.
- Watch your skill points: expedition catch-up exists but has hard caps (max 5 per expedition) — details on the Expedition hub.
- Treat third-party numbers (drop rates, blueprint counts) as unverified until they match official sources.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
Is ARC Raiders hard to learn?
The core loop is simple (raid, extract, craft), but risk management and ARC enemies take practice. The official game is a paid extraction adventure, so losing loot is part of the loop.
Can I play ARC Raiders solo?
Yes — solo play is supported, but the game is balanced around squads of up to three, and the official cross-platform social play makes finding a squad easy.
What should I do first?
Follow your first quests, learn one map's extraction routes, and start collecting blueprints — the survival crafting is the long-term goal. The 5th Expedition is the current seasonal event.
